Salim              : Actually. I don’t have any good English Grammar book. What about you in this
connection.?
Siray               : I have a good grammar composition book by Michel Swan. It’s a good book for
learning net only grammar but also composition.
Salim              : Can I get the book for three or four days, Siray?
Siray               : Sure, Why not, But I use thin book almost every day. So you must return me just of
there four days.
Salim              : Centrally, I will take it for three or four days.
Siray               : Let’s move to our house.
Salim              : Sure friend, thank you.

Wonder of Modern Science

Science has changed the face of the world. It has also revolutionized the life of man. Man can now live a longer and more comfortable life because of the progress of science. Man has conquered Nature with the help of science.
The wonders of Science have contributed to the comforts and pleasures of man. Man can be comfortable anywhere on the surface of the earth. Air- conditioning can keep him cool at the Equator. Central heating makes it possible for him to keep warm at the Poles. He has become independent of the climate. Labour- saving gadgets have lightened the burden of house work for the housewife. Science has also added to our pleasure. We can turn on the radio or TV and entertain ourselves at home. If we wish for outdoor entertainment we can go and see a film or do a variety of other things.
Electricity is one of the wonders of Science. Without it we would not have had electric lights, fans, refrigerators and all the labour-saving devices in the home. We also have wonderful means of travel. Cars and buses are very common. Electric trains carry us across the land with great speed. Jet planes go like a flash across the sky. In no time, we can be in another continent. Thus speedy travel is possible only on account of the wonders of science. Electricity also enables us to use elevators and escalators that save us the trouble of going up and down flights of stairs.
Science has also provided us with spectacles and contact lenses artificial limbs, fountain pens, type-writers and mechanical brains or computers, aren’t all these the wonders of science ?
It is a wonder that science has conquered deadly diseases, made man healthier and lengthened the span of human life. There is now a cure for practically every fatal disease that used to take a heavy toll of human life in the past. Not only this still more wonderful is the fact that worn out organs like the human heart and kidneys can be replaced by transplants.
With the help of science, man has even reached the moon. Soon he will be visiting other planets too. There is no limit to the wonders of science. Scientists are coming out with new inventions and wonders every now and then.
The atom bomb and nuclear weapons are also wonders of science. As these can cause much destruction, it would be better for men to make constructive use of the wonders of science.

Population Problem in Bangladesh

Population problem is the main problem of Bangladesh. It is a small country of 1,47,570 square kilometres. But the density of population is about 876 per square kilometre. It is one of the biggest figures in the world. Moreover about two million new babies are born every year.

Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries of the world. About 140 million people live in this small land. Many of the evils/problems of the country are due to over population. At present the growth rate of population is about 3% every year.

The population is an asset of a country. But sometimes it becomes a curse when the country cannot meet the necessities of the people. Additional people need additional things like food, clothes, houses, hospitals, education, work etc. But for a poor country like Bangladesh it is impossible to meet all the demands of the people.

The effect of over population is very dangerous. The rate of unemployment is increasing every year. Unemployment causes frustration and unrest in the society. As a   result the situation of law and order is now going out of control. There is no balance between food production and the growth rate of population. The price of things is rising high by leaps and bounds. So it is going beyond the reach of the poor people to buy their daily necessities. Over population creates much pressure on all sectors of economy. All these have adverse impacts on our life and society.

We should come forward to solve this problem. Early marriage should be abolished. Each family should not have more than two children. For this we must remove illiteracy from society. Programmes must be taken to create awareness among the mass people about the adverse impacts of over population.

The government alone cannot solve this problem. Educated and conscious people of the society must play an important role to face this problem. Otherwise, our progress and development as a nation will be greatly hampered and we will lag behind in every sphere of life.

Composition

   My Aim in Life/Future Plan of My Life

An aim means a particular goal of life. It is important to choose a profession for future life and prepare oneself accordingly. Everybody must have an aim in life. Success in life depends largely on the right selection of an aim in life.

Different men have different tastes. There are many professions. Some want to be high officials, some want to be doctors, some want to be poets, some want to be an engineers and some want to be writers and so on.

Now I am a student of class seven. It is very difficult for me to choose a right profession for future life. So I have discussed with my parents and teachers about my aim and have chosen my aim in life. I like to be a good doctor in course of time. I have my own reasons for choosing the profession of a doctor. In our country most of the people live in villages. They suffer from various diseases. They do not get proper treatment for want of qualified doctors. Besides, there is an acute shortage of doctors in many villages. So I have chosen this profession to serve the suffering people of my country.

I will study in science group at the H S C level. After passing the H S C examination, I shall get myself admitted into a Medical College. After obtaining the M.B.B.S. degree I shall go back to my native village to serve the people. In order to do so I will not look for any job. I will treat the poor patients free of cost. I will also try to set up a charitable dispensary and give medicine to the poor patients without any cost. As a result, a good number of lives will remain safe from immature death. Thus I shall devote myself to the service of the nation and country.

An aimless life is no life at all. A man without an aim is like a boat or steamer without a rudder. An aimless man cannot reach the goal of life. It is sure that success in life depends on the proper choice of an aim in life. I hope that I shall be able to reach my goal in course of time.
